This is a continuation to Anon’s question about how Matt and I met and our story.
This might be long. So if you are curious, read all about it after the jump!

I’ll answer you in short form here. The short story is that he is the older brother of my friend, Julie, that I interned with at a radio station while going to school at Purdue.
I will post the long form version later this evening.
As a thank you to you all for sticking with me through the name change, I wanted to give away some sweet prizes!
Three people will win one of these awesome prizes:
- $50 Amazon gift card
- Trader Joe’s care package filled with all my favorite goodies (worth about $50) and samples* from…
Downtown for a focus group. I grew up in the south suburbs and now live in the western suburbs but I lived down Old Town for close to 7 years. I miss being apart of the hustle and bustle. Walking and riding the el amongst the masses. I can’t believe I’m saying that I miss riding the el! I guess I just hate having to drive everywhere, especially during the winter. Now that the kids are getting a little older we’ll probably venture down to the city more often to go to the museums but it’s not the same. I used to live 2 blocks from Lincoln Park Zoo and every single stroll with my daughter began or ended at the zoo. Now we’re only about a 12 minute drive from Brookfield Zoo but it’s different having to pack up the car and go.
Chicago is such a great city! Though we rent it out, we still own our condo. I have grand dreams that one day when the kids are all grown up and the condo is paid off, that my husband and I will use it as our ‘weekend place.’
Chicago you will always hold a place in my heart.
Last night we had the Skinny Taste Broccoli Mac and Cheese. It was good but bland. I would probably use a stronger cheese (though I know this would up the calorie count) and my husband said adding a little bacon to the recipe would be great, I agree. I’ll try this one again with some tweeks.
Tonight’s dinner is the Skinny Taste Crock Pot Santa Fe Chicken, though I did make a small adjustment. Instead of using the garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper, I just dropped a pack of taco seasoning in (my sick kiddos were needing attention and I just wanted to get the meal started). So far, dinner smells delish! I will let you all know how it turns out.
Also on the menu for the next few nights are: Crockpot Parmesan Chicken, Baked Potato Soup, and the Quick Fix Beef Burrito Skillet.
The boy has had a cough and fever the last 2 days. The girl has been fine but I just had to pick her up from school because she vomited. Got her home, no fever but now she is starting to cough. Hope this is a quick 24 hour bug and that they are back to their peppy selves soon. Also, hoping I don’t get it, it’s hard to be mom when I’m sick.
We are having the Pioneer Woman’s Broccoli Cheese soup.
(Actually, we are having it because it is perfect for stuck inside in a snowstorm and National Cheese Lovers Day just happened to be today)
Yum!
Can I please ask that the next time the Public Hotel $1 sale email goes out, that someone text message me immediately??? I had been waiting for it to go out because I want to surprise my husband with a night out downtown for his birthday in March. I missed the email by a half an hour because we were at a play date. If anyone that sits in front of a computer all day would be willing to do this, please let me know! :) Thanks!
Watching “I Cloned my Pet” (my husband DVRd it yesterday on TLC) and for some reason these people seem to think that their cloned dogs have the memories of their old dogs. I’m sorry but DNA doesn’t transfer memories. One guy has spent 3 years and $100k for his dog that died over 10 years ago. Crazies!
Well, my husband is playing DJ and the kids are dancing. I am shaking my butt off while doing the dishes. Robyn, Beyonce, Britney, Rihanna, all great butt shaking songs!
(Sidenote: I actually measured the amount of Vodka that goes into our martini glasses and found out its 8 oz. that’s 19 WW points! Add my hand stuffed blue cheese olives and it’s got to be at least 22 points. Good thing I worked out today and another reason I’m trying to shake it right now!)
Happy Friday night everyone!
