A little stressed
  • Booked our flights to Vegas for my husband’s best friend’s wedding. 2nd year in a row in Vegas for my birthday. Think this might need to become an annual tradition.
  • Got my daughter’s flower girl dress for my sister in law’s wedding (6 days after the Vegas wedding). It is WAY too big. We had it made for her and the woman on Etsy didn’t look at the measurements I sent her, she just made it based on a general pattern for a size too big. Had to send the dress back, hopefully she can fix it.
  • Bought my shoes for the sis in law’s wedding. Super cute purple shoes but there are not a lot of options out there for cute wedding appropriate purple heels on a budget.
  • Need to pick up my bridesmaids dress for the SIL wedding, it had to be hemmed. It was that weird in between knee and ankle length.
  • Figuring out how much to pay my sister to be “nanny” at the SIL wedding since both kids will be there, little girl being flower girl and my husband and I are both in the wedding.

I have a spreadsheet for all of the events that we are a part of since the last week in March through September. 2 baby showers, 3 bridal showers for my sis in law, 1 bridal shower/bachelorette for the best friend’s fiance, 3 nights at a Vegas hotel, 2 round trip tickets to Vegas, 2 nights downtown for the SIL wedding, wedding gifts, one of my best friend’s wedding at the end of the summer, her bachelorette weekend, her shower, and many more expenses, etc.

I don’t stress about money often, but right now I’m a little stressed.

I LOVE my friends and family and couldn’t be any happier for them but I am looking forward to being able to breathe a little after a few of these events have passed. Though a weekend in Vegas should be a bit relaxing.

Hello! We are headed to San Jose (flying in and out and staying one night on each side), Arenal, Monteverde, and the beach! Very touristy but hey - we're tourists! Any recommendations? We have hotels booked and some excursions, but will definitely take food recs, as well as stuff to do! The beach is Guanacaste...

Again, jealous! Hopefully I catch you before you leave. Zip lines in Monteverde. Also, there was a cafe/restaurant there called Morpho, in the town of Santa Elena that I remember being quite good. When at Arenal, the hot springs are wonderful. Hopefully, you are there on a semi-clear day and can see the eruption of the volcano, it was not clear when we were there. If you can get a surfing lesson while at the beach, do it. That is still one thing I regret not doing. Enjoy and have a ton of fun. Looking forward to hearing/reading all about your adventures!

Well, duh.
48% Dixie. Barely in Yankeedom. Not surprising as I am half Texan and half Yankee. I attribute the 2% difference to the fact that I have lived in the Chicago area for longer then I lived in Texas. But as soon as I am back down there the accent comes flooding back.

shanamaideleh:

26% Dixie. I am a Yankee Doodle dandy, apparently.

11 years ago today, also a Friday the 13th

11 years ago today, also a Friday the 13th, we lost one of the greatest men I have ever known, my Daddy.

This photo was taken a few weeks before the accident, while down in Texas for my Mamaw’s funeral. That was the last time my sister and I would see him. I was 19 and a sophomore at Purdue, she was 18 and a senior in high school.

I'm a F#*$ing idiot

I just drove all the way downtown to show the condo and realized a block away that I left the condo keys sitting on the counter at home! I called the building manager to get the spare set and he’s getting his taxes done. So I spoke to the couple coming to loaf the place and had to apologize profusely. The building manager should be back around 8:15 so the couple has agreed to meet me then. I feel awful for them and like a huge moron. Hopefully, this won’t reflect poorly on the place.

You know gas prices have gotten out I hand, when $4.18 at Costco is a great price. I have a 30 gallon tank and $100 doesn’t fill it up. I have to pump twice to get an actual full tank. Absurd.
