This year has been good. Nothing really bad happened (thank goodness) and nothing outrageously great has happened. I would much rather have a year like this then something bad happening.

It has been a great year watching the kids grow to be the little people that they are today. A tiring year of taking care of Matt with the 2 major surgeries that he had (shoulder and spine).

We had a great weekend celebrating in the city. I’ve had a cold for about a week now but it has escalated to no voice whatsoever and a very sore throat. Being sick on my birthday sucks but at least I was healthy enough to celebrate with friends and family this weekend.

I’m looking forward to seeing what this year has in store for me and my family.

My birthday is on Monday. Took some idea pics in the Hall of Gems at the museum today (in case Matt needed any ideas). Never gonna happen, jewels are for anniversaries (big ones, the number of years, not size) and having babies (he spoiled me with the 2 kiddos, diamonds are great, small ones in a necklace and bracelet ‘push presents’).

It was a free day at The Field Museum so the kids, 2 of my 3 sisters, and I took advantage. We saw Sue and everything else they have to offer and the trip ended with Princess M passed out in the backseat, the boy was wide awake and happy right next to her.

This picture doesn’t look like much more then a few dug up drains but it is actually the scene of a bunny/bird massacre.

Yesterday, I pulled out of the driveway to see these drains strewn across our lawn. I didn’t think much of it as there is a lot of construction going on on our street. I called my husband to just let him know (he’s extremely protective of his lawn).
He went out to investigate and found that our drains up against the house were dug up and the chewed through. There was a bunny tail, and other hunks of bunny fur, along with 2 dead birds on the yard.

The coyotes around here are vicious.

13 lb yorkie is not going on the dog run at night without a human anytime soon.

We had a great weekend celebrating Memorial Day with BBQs even though it was a bit chilly. On Sunday we went down to my sister’s house to celebrate my nephew, Kingston’s, first birthday. I also got to see Carlyn and finally play with Jax, the last time I saw him he was sleeping.
It was a great weekend and wonderful to spend it with so many friends and family.

This morning was the last day of preschool for Princess M. These last 2 years have been great. I feel lucky to have found this school, it is a great little community we have and I’m looking forward to the next 2 years with the little boy there.
I am the VP of the board next year and the President the following year, hope I don’t mess up.

MamaMcG fun fact:
This is supermodel Liya Kebede. Back in high school when I was a model for Elite Chicago we modeled together. We shared cabs, grabbed lunch together, went to go sees together.
When I see her in publications, like this J Crew catalogue, I wonder what I’d be doing now had I stayed in Chicago for college instead of going away for school.
(Though I do know I wouldn’t have met Matt or had these wonderful kids.)
